NextClass (also referred to as "the App") is developed and maintained by Catcubed Studio (an individual developer, and the "personal information handler" referred to in this policy). This policy explains how the App handles your data and system permissions while it runs, and it applies to everyone who downloads, installs, or uses the App.

In short: the App has no accounts, does not collect information that identifies you personally, and never stores your data on the developer's servers. Accordingly, in its App Store privacy details the App is labeled "Data Not Collected."

1. Personal and teaching data stays on your device

The App requires no registration or sign-in, and does not ask you to give the developer a phone number, email address, real name, or other account details.

The name, school, subject, semesters, holidays, classes, bell schedules, weekly timetable, one-off changes, and lesson notes you create in the App are stored in the app's local storage on your device. The App does not upload or sync this personal and teaching data to the developer's servers, and the developer cannot view it remotely.

2. Device and system-level backup

The App does not provide iCloud sync or cross-device sync. Whether the operating system includes app data in a full-device backup depends on your device settings and system mechanisms; this is not a cloud service provided by the App.

If you delete the App, clear its data, or have no usable system device backup, local data may not be recoverable.

3. Local class reminders

When you turn on class reminders, the App requests system notification permission and schedules local notifications based on the timetable parsed on your device. Reminder content is generated on the device and is not sent back to the developer as timetable data.

You can turn reminders off at any time in the App or in system settings. System permissions, device state, and system scheduling can all affect whether a notification appears on time.

4. Word and Excel file handling

When you actively select a Word `.docx` bell-schedule file, the App reads the document body on your device only, to pre-fill fields for your line-by-line review; it does not upload or retain the original Word file.

Based on your current bell schedule, the App can generate an Excel `.xlsx` timetable template on your device, and can read that template back when you select it. Where the file is saved through the system "Files" or share features, and whom you send it to, is entirely your decision. The App does not send files to the developer's servers.

5. Local snapshots, restore, and reset

The App can keep up to 5 local snapshots inside the app sandbox, for recovering from mistakes on the same device. Snapshots are not exported files; they do not provide cross-device recovery and do not constitute a cloud backup.

Restoring fully replaces your current personal and teaching data rather than merging it; a data reset may delete your current data and snapshots. The App asks for explicit confirmation before performing either action.

6. Statutory holiday data updates

Automatic holiday updates are off by default. When enabled, the App downloads year-by-year statutory holiday data for the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan from public sources, and verifies and caches it on your device; the request does not include your name, school, class, timetable, or lesson notes.

As with any network connection, the network service that provides the public data may process technical information necessary to complete the connection. The App does not use this connection to build a user profile or track your behavior.

7. Third-party services and data sources

The App integrates no advertising, third-party analytics, or user-behavior tracking SDKs; it does not perform cross-app or cross-site tracking, and it does not sell user data.

So that you can verify the App's actual network behavior, every domain the App connects to is listed below by edition. The App connects to no servers other than these.

  • The Chinese mainland edition (Bundle ID: studio.catcubed.NextClass) connects only to catcubed.studio. It is used for two purposes: to fetch statutory holiday data for the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan (under the path /nextclass/holidays/), and to fetch the text of this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use (under the path /nextclass/legal/).
  • The international edition (Bundle ID: studio.catcubed.NextClass.global) uses the same domain and, when the developer's own mirror is unavailable, may additionally try cdn.jsdelivr.net, raw.githubusercontent.com, and holidays-jp.github.io in turn, solely to fetch public holiday data.

The open-source components the App uses are for on-device file parsing and compression, and do not cause your files or timetable to be uploaded. The corresponding license information is available inside the App.

8. Access logs and network commitments

Access logging is disabled at the server level on catcubed.studio, which we operate: it does not record or retain your IP address, time of access, or request path. Connection information is used only while that request is being served, and no copy is kept afterwards. The China mainland edition therefore leaves no data off your device that remains accessible to us, and is labeled “Data Not Collected” in its App Store privacy details. When the self-hosted mirror is unavailable, the international edition falls back to the third-party public data sources listed above; those services are run by their respective operators, and their access-log practices are governed by their own privacy policies and are outside our control.

For all of the network requests described above, we make the following explicit commitments:

  • All of these requests are GET requests that download only public holiday data and legal texts.
  • The App does not upload your timetable, classes, bell schedules, lesson notes, or any personal data to any server.
  • The App does not download or execute any remote code.
  • The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

9. Permissions

  • Notifications: used to show class reminders locally on your device; can be turned off at any time.
  • File access: reads a Word or Excel file only when you actively select it.
  • Network access: used only for features that clearly require the network, such as holiday data updates, and never to upload personal or teaching data.

The App does not access your contacts, photos, location, or similar data without your action or system authorization.

10. Your rights over your personal data

Because the App keeps your personal and teaching data on your device, you have direct and complete control over it:

  • Access and correction: you can view and edit any data you created, at any time, inside the App.
  • Deletion: you can delete individual entries in the App, or delete on-device data and snapshots via "data reset"; deleting the App likewise clears the data in the app sandbox.
  • Withdrawing permission: you can turn off notification, network, and other permissions in system settings at any time, or turn off networked features such as automatic holiday updates in the App.

Because the developer does not hold your personal and teaching data, it cannot export or delete the content on your device on your behalf; you carry out the actions above yourself on the device.

If you are located outside mainland China, you may also have rights under your local law (for example, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) such as restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Because the App does not collect or store your personal information on the developer's side, these rights can usually be exercised through your direct control over on-device data; if you still have questions, contact us at the email below.

11. Data security

The App's personal and teaching data is stored in the sandbox storage the operating system assigns to the app, subject to the device's system-level access controls; when you enable a passcode or biometrics on your device, it is further protected by the system data-protection mechanism.

The App has no account system and stores none of your data on the developer's servers, so there is no risk of an account or data breach on the developer's side. Your device's own security (lock screen, system updates, whether it is jailbroken, and so on) directly affects the safety of on-device data, so please keep your device secure.

12. Protection of minors

The App is designed for teacher users, primarily to manage a teacher's own timetable and teaching schedule. It is not directed at minors and does not knowingly collect minors' personal information.

The App has no accounts and collects no personal information on the developer's side; data a user enters is stored only on that user's own device. If a child under 14 uses the App with the consent and supervision of a guardian, the data they enter is likewise stored only on the device and cannot be accessed by the developer. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the App without a guardian's consent, please contact us and we will cooperate to address it.

13. Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy as the App's features or legal requirements change, and will publish the new content and the update date on this page; for material changes to how personal information is handled, we will provide a prominent notice.
